About Me

Yoana Urbina

Hi, I’m Yoana Urbina (she/her/ella), a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of De Oruga a Mariposa Therapy. I was born and raised in Los Angeles by immigrant parents, and I carry with me the strength, complexity, and deep love that come from being part of a community that has long navigated life between cultures.

I created De Oruga a Mariposa Therapy as a space for healing, transformation, and belonging. The name “From Caterpillar to Butterfly” reflects the journeys so many of us take: through pain, through growth, and into becoming. My practice is grounded in the belief that therapy should be accessible, culturally attuned, and deeply human. While I have a special heart for working with Spanish-speaking clients and the Latinx community, my work is also rooted in supporting first-generation individuals, children of immigrants, and anyone navigating identity, trauma, or transitions in spaces where they’ve felt unseen.

My approach is warm, relational, and trauma-informed. I integrate EMDR, somatic practices, and cultural responsiveness to support healing at the pace that feels right for you. Whether you're carrying intergenerational pain, feeling stuck in survival mode, or simply longing for a deeper connection to yourself, you are welcome here.

There is space for all of you here, your story, your pain, and your becoming.
